May 2018 - GDPR Compliance
As you probably know, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) goes into effect May 25, 2018. This new data& privacy law impacts how businesses that are based in the European Union (EU) -- or who have programs that extend into the EU -- collect and process personal data from EU citizens. We at WizeHive decided early on to make all the changes necessary to make our ZengineTM platform fully GDPR-compliant. We work with a number of organizations within the EU, partner with many who have constituents in the EU, and simply appreciate a more open and transparent way of collecting, using, and respecting personal information. We have been working hard over the past few months to make all needed changes and add new controls and features to ensure we are fully compliant, and that you can use our Zengine platform in a GDPR-compliant manner, as well.
Using Zengine in a GDPR-compliant way
Clients who are by GDPR definition a “Data Controller” will be able to easily make minor changes to their forms, administrative workspace, and procedures to make them GDPR compliant. These changes could include adding checkboxes to application forms and portals so that users can “opt in”, storing each contact’s lawful basis, tracking changes to consent, and sharing, changing, and deleting data at the request of an individual. For a full guide to the changes you may need to make and the Zengine features available to you, please see our GDPR Compliance guide on the Zengine KnowledgeBase.
WizeHive’s use of personal data
It is important to note that all the data you store on Zengine from applicants or others is owned by you. WizeHive does not use this information to market to your applicants or sell their personal data to any third parties.
With respect to ourclients, prospects, or other visitors to our website, they will all be notified immediately of our privacy policy, and EU visitors who complete a contact or demo request form on our website will be asked to give consent to our communicating with them before submitting. No marketing communications will be sent to individuals in the EU without this consent.
Signing a DPA with WizeHive
If your organization needs to be GDPR compliant, you are probably familiar with the Data Processing Addendum (DPA) and EU standard clauses. WizeHive has our DPA -- along with the EU standard clauses -- available to sign. Please get in touch with your contact at WizeHive if you need to begin this process.
We’re committed to making this transition an easy one for all our clients impacted, and to continuing to provide seamless, simplified experiences for you, your applicants, and your reviewers.
